Week 4 Part A Defining target markets

I chose Cream of the Crop and Sprouts grocery stores.  The demographics for Cream of the Crop is pretty general, however it also taps into a special group of people who care about the environment, their health, whats in their food, where their food is grown and raised, if it's organic or not.  That particular demographic will spend extra money on groceries and is active and takes care of themselves.

Demographics for Sprouts are general public.  There is some crossover, as the special demographic I described may shop at Sprouts because they are able to get the products and produce they desire.  The general public includes a group of people who are looking for convenience and lower price points and could care less if it's Sprouts or Ralphs, they might've strolled in to grab something quick and if it's on sale.  This demographic may also opt out of walking into a grocery store like cream of the crop because it's unfamiliar.

Sprouts website is very simple and clean and easy on the eyes.  The first thing I noticed front and center is a sale they are currently having.  Buy one get one 50% off.  They have categories if you scroll down a bit and groceries are labeled by buttons like organic, keto, plant based. I appreciated this feature because I make Keto meals for my daughter to keep her epilepsy under control.  When I clicked on Keto, it had a popup that provides choices like delivery, pickup, etc. I liked that because it's convenient and most of the time if i'm looking up groceries online I'm probably going to have it delivered or order it for pickup.

Cream of the Crop website immediately has a popup that asks if you would like delivery or pickup.  That's great and convenient because most of the time if i'm online for a grocery store i'm there to order or maybe get an address.  But it's good to offer the customer the choice of starting an online shopping basket.  Ok nevermind, I just tried to click on delivery to start an order and it turns out it is just referring to their little food services that prepares sandwiches and small bites and juices.  I tried to navigate the website and they say they provide products that are local and organic and show some products.  However, when I click on the product like Bitchin Sauce there was no description next to it and it's not something you can buy online.  So the delivery only refers to their juice and small bites.   You would have to go in store to check it out.  They did do a great job with the big button to click on it and take you to their instagram.  Seems like a nice store.  It's very local so it's one of those places you go to if it's in your town or just happen to be in the town and stop by.
