Week 6 Part A Engaging your Customers: A Facebook strategy

My company is called Zen Boutique a health and wellness company. The 7 Facebook pages I chose to like and analyze are the following:

1. Deepak Chopra. People who would enjoy my company would also probably enjoy Deepak. Deepak has gained a lot of followers with all his collaborations and books and content he creates to bring knowledge and peace to people. He has a huge following, however his engagement was really disappointing. He didn’t have much likes and the comments weren’t very thought out, just like “thanks” or “great video”. He posts videos of him sharing knowledge and they seem interesting, but perhaps the way he presents it or the lack of presence on his page has made it a ghost town.

2. Oprah Winfrey. Oprah has a massive following. I chose her because she is so wise and likes to enlighten her viewers. Her following is very much engaged. She chooses topics that interest people and has thousands of Likes and thousands of comments where people engage with each other about the topic. She also makes very personal posts. It feels like she is taking you along with her on a hike or whatever activity she’s doing. She’s very relatable in many ways. Her page was just as impressive as I’d hoped it would be.

3. The Dalai Lama. His page surprised me with the amount of likes and engagement. His content is very much focused on all things spiritual and within his realm. The people are seeking calm and enlightenment through him. They respect and are engaged followers. They feel connected to him and some that have met him leave comments when and where they met him. Even though he may not engage with his Facebook page, his engagement in person appears to make up for that and people are loyal followers of his. Great content as well.

4. Peace love and yoga studio. This is a local yoga studio that I’ve been to and also worked for part time. I never even thought to go to the Facebook page and when I did I was so disappointed. Not a single like or comment on the photos they post. The photos are of instructors and they are a nice personal touch with the story of the person. However, the no engagement from the 6000 followers is not good. We had to cut back on hours because there wasn’t enough people in classes and we wondered why. I wish they would pop into a moms group or a meditation or yoga group and let people know who they are and what they offer. So much potential there as you can see the passion of why the owner started the company in the first place and you can tell she has a great heart.

5. Best Indoor Plants. I loved that there was a business and Facebook page that discussed all things indoor plants. What I didn’t love is that their last post was in 2021 and the one before that was in 2018. They have 22k followers and it looks like they abandoned a great concept. What a bummer. There were people commenting in the last 6 months and no one is there to even message them back. It’s too bad because they’d be a fun company to work with as indoor plants bring lots of peace and add to peoples wellbeing inside their homes and spaces.

6. Core hydration. For a water company I was surprised that there was actually engagement and Likes. They’ve done a good job working with events and people. They seem to sponsor events and have public figures posing with their water. Also, because they now have flavors and a unique bottle design, people comment and engage about the different options and the design. That surprised me for a water company. They would be a good one to work with.

7. Lulu lemon. A wellness company like mine would be great to work with a brand like this. People who like my company would most likely also like the clothing from Lulu lemon. This yoga wear brand surprised me with the comments and likes. They invested a lot of time into video content which the followers seem to really like. The videos are very well done and you can tell they have a great team that puts thought into their posts.
