Week 2 part A Communication between business and consumer

Social media makes it so much easier to connect with businesses and get problems solved. Because a comment where other customers can see, could be so influential. Businesses often acknowledge the good and bad because it is feedback on their business in real time. It gives them the opportunity to respond and there is an “audience” who will see this.

What I noticed on reviews is there are some negative reviews on businesses from people who never purchased anything or did business with the establishment, yet they leave negative reviews over something like, long wait time, or someone couldn’t make an accommodation for them and they are angry and leave a bad comment. Also there are some good reviews that seem like they could just be friends or family members of the business. I really appreciate the authentic detailed personal review. I have often times made a purchase or decided to go with a certain business because of a review. I’ve also avoided certain places because of a review. They are very powerful. The well thought out ones at least.

I rarely post negative reviews. It’s mostly positive. I like to praise businesses that are doing things right and I don’t do this enough. I do it as a way to give back to the business and also to give back to the people who wrote reviews before me that helped me make my decision to go with a business in the first place.

If I had a business I would thank people for their good reviews and I would also ask the negative reviews for another chance to make things right. I wouldn’t say anything rude to the negative reviews. I’ve seen business do this and it looks very immature and doesn’t give me a good feeling if a business can’t admit when they’ve made a mistake or at least politely say that they don’t recall this person being a customer. I would always remember that everything I comment back is being read by potential customers.

For my positive reviews I chose a couple businesses that I’ve been wanting to leave good reviews for. The first one is a law firm that handles lemon law cars. I had a car a couple years ago that was a lemon. After having my car in the shop for a year and a half, getting the run around from the dealer and having a lawyer who got nothing done for me, I contacted this firm and they had my vehicle bought back in 2 months. It was amazing and I owed them a great review so I’m glad I finally got to do that.

Another business I reviewed was a tire shop where I bought my tires. About a month ago I had a flat tire from a nail. I took it in and they fixed my tire and also replaced my back tail light with a new bulb I brought in but couldn’t figure out how to replace. At first they were going to charge me $20 for replacing my light bulb and I was sad because I asked if they could take a look at it and see if they could do it. They just said yes and never mentioned a price. The guy at the shop said he’d waive the charge and asked if I could leave a good review on yelp. So I just did. I feel better now. Good deeds for the
